Happy New Year to All our children and families from Us All at Pre-School. Many Thanks from the staff team for all the lovely gifts given to them by children at Christmas.
Theme for this Term
Over the next few weeks we shall looking at aspects of Winter Time (weather, clothing, colours, cold & ice, activity and animals) and later on Chinese New Year. If you have any resources that we could borrow to support these themes please bring them along and talk to a member of staff about how these can be used.
The last event in the pre-school’s year in 2013 was the Christmas Concert. The support received from families was absolutely overwhelming and much more than we anticipated with 70 tickets requested from parents and other family and friends. Thank You so much for this support it really gave the staff team a buzz and has been the subject of numerous discussions within the team, including a review of if and how it could be done another year. Obviously the stars of the show were your children who performed in front of this large group of people in a strange building after being taken from their familiar surroundings at pre-school. They were truly excellent and the staff team are proud to have taught them and worked with them. Well done to the staff team for their hard work in the lead up to this event.
The Christmas Hamper Raffle was drawn at the end of the concert and the basket was won by Mr Jones (Gracie’s grandad). This raffle raised £136 and the coffee & tea donations raised £14.65 these amounts are being put towards the refurbishment of the water play area including replacing a number of rotten floorboards and fitting new water resistant surfacing.
Thank You for your support in helping to raise money that enables us to carry out this work.
Did you manage to read the pre-school article in the December publication? If you do not receive this there is a copy on the Parent’s Information Board.
Just to let you know that we have a Learning Tree on the wall just inside the playroom where you can leave any comments or contributions you have with regard to the pre-school (this is instead of a ‘comments box’). Any notes you place there can be owned or anonymous.
Recent work to fix a couple of dislodged roofing tiles was carried out in December by Simon from SPS Building & Roofing. Many Thanks to Simon who carried out this work free of charge.
If you are thinking of increasing your child’s sessions at pre-school please speak with Jane asap as some sessions are now fully booked for the remainder of this year. Remember that children are funded for 15 hours a week the term after their 3rd birthday and you will need to get these reserved if you intend to use these hours at Ridings Pre-School.
Reminder from staff – Please label children’ clothes with their name including hats and gloves. Also past practice has shown that when children are toilet training they are best dressed in easy to remove clothing such as trackie bottoms or leggings, please avoid belts, braces, dungarees, long dresses, tights and pants over pull ups.
Change of Details
In order that we can contact you if/when needed can you please let us know of any changes in your details including phone numbers especially mobiles and amend any authorised persons who you wish to collect your child as we cannot let children leave the premises with anyone without your authorisation.
Outdoor Learning & Paddock Visits
We will be resuming our outdoor activities in a couple of weeks time, though visits to the Paddock will be shorter in duration due to the ground being very wet and the colder weather. If your child is going on one of these outings (you will receive a note to inform you) please ensure that they are dressed suitably for the weather.
