“If You Go Down To the Woods Today”

Friday 3rd July found Teddy Bears having a wonderful time down in The Paddock, Ockbrook when 86 children, parents, grandparents, aunties and teachers took a ‘walking bus’ from Ridings Pre-school in Flood Street to The Paddock. Each Child brought their Teddy and packed lunch to join a morning of fun packed activities in this wonderful natural environment. On arrival the children were met by Winnie the Pooh, Paddington Bear and a host of other Bears who were already at The Paddock. Down in the woodland the children and adults became engrossed in activities including Bug House & Stickman construction, woodland animal mask making, hide & seek mini-beasts and using clay to create monsters and other figures. All the children decorated their own paper carrier bag to take their work home in. At lunch time we all sat in the warm sunshine to eat picnics with our Teddy Bears. This activity, organised by the pre-school managers was enthusiastically supported by colleagues and families from pre-school. Thank You to all those parents who gave us such lovely messages on their enjoyment of this event and to Pauline & Chris Johnson who allow us to use this facility both on this occasion and each month when we take children for a session of learning in the natural environment.
