Pre-School is closed on Friday 8th May as this is a Bank Holiday.

The perimeter gate has now been mended. Thank You to Bernie and James from The Gate Maker  ( https://www.thegatemaker.co.uk/ )for putting things right for us. They came back on Saturday to make some changes to things that we hope will prevent problems going forwards. Thank you so much for their great efforts. This is  a different company to the one that fitted the new system in the summer. The code remains the same for now and we continue to ask that you are aware of strangers who may ask to enter but do not have the code to do so. Simply ask them to wait while you fetch a staff member. We all need to safeguard our children.

Care & Share Books. If your child has one of these because they attend another setting as well as Ridings can we ask that these are left in your child’s tray on arrival at pre-school. In this way we can access them and make sure they are read and completed as necessary. This shared work is a statutory requirement for all children who transition between multiple settings so we would like to do our best to share in the care and development of your child with partner early years providers.

Thank You for your support in helping your child to be independent in dressing and undressing for The Hideaway activities. This skill is one of the 10 keys to school readiness for your children so being confident in putting on their own coat, wellies, gloves etc. gives them a head start when they move on to school. Having all their gear in one place and clothes the right way round really helps with this task.

During the coming months we are having a number of visitors to the setting who will chat with your children about their occupation and what they do at work. This includes a dental practitioner, fireman, police officer etc. Are you in a job or have a hobby – dancer, gardener, artist, musician – that would be interesting to talk with the children about so they can develop a broader understanding of the world around them. Let us know if you or a grandparent are able to share this with us at pre-school.
